Steven Charles Wolf, 66, of rural Tipton County, Ind., died Jan. 2 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Charles was the owner of S&R Consulting, and retired at the end of 2016. He was born in Bremen March 24, 1950, to Charles Wolf, Jr. and Ruby (Ropp) Wolf. He married Ramona Johnson Aug. 29, 1970. He was a 1968 graduate of Tipton High School and received both his bachelor’s degree in agriculture education and master’s in plant pathology from Purdue University. Fishing was a life-long passion for Charles. Thunder Seed, Inc. has named John Sorby as its new sales direc- tor. Sorby brings more than 23 years of seed management experi- ence to the position. “I’m excited to be working with a family-owned company that has a strong focus on the success of growers in the region,” Sorby says. Sorby will help continue to expand the Thunder Seed business throughout North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. He will work closely with the Thunder Seed team of district sales managers to provide per- sonal support to growers in the area. Sorby has held positions with several seed companies, including Agsco, WinField and, most recently, Pinnacle Agriculture. Direct Enterprises, Inc., a supplier of agricultural products for seed, selected Jerry Berg to serve as strategic accounts manager. In his new role, Berg will lead the market development and expansion into strategic focus markets including agricultural distribution and retail and other specialty markets for the companies’ lines of agricultural products. He will also be an active member of the management team identifying new products that fit the companies strategic growth plans. Berg’s efforts will focus on the market development of N-Force inoculant that offers the longest life on seed in the industry with insecticide and fungicide seed treatments, in addition to expanding their custom blending seed treatment business.
