Through relationships Cibus has established with North American grain crushers, canola growers have the opportu- nity sell their Falco grain via pre- mium contracts in Canada and the U.S. Varieties available for the 2019 growing season include 68K in both Canada and the U.S., in addition to 32K and 40K in the U.S. All varieties offer sulfonylurea herbicide tolerance and premium contract opportunities through preferred partners. UPL COMPLETES THE ACQUISITION OF ARYSTA LIFESCIENCE UPL Limited announced the com- pletion of its acquisition of Arysta LifeScience Inc. from Platform Specialty Products for $4.2 billion. The transaction received uncon- ditional regulatory approvals from authorities across the globe and the company has already announced global, regional and country leader- ship teams for the integrated entity. UPL is making the acquisition through its international arm UPL Corporation Ltd, and a new board has been constituted for the entity, bringing in a wealth of experience with varied skills and backgrounds to drive the organization forward. PEOPLE CONCENTRIC APPOINTS JARRETT CHAMBERS AS EVP AND CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER Concentric Ag Corporation, a devel- oper of biological and plant nutrient inputs formerly known as Inocucor, has appointed Jarrett Chambers as executive vice president, marketing and sales and chief commercial officer. Chambers is an expert in the interac- tion of nutrients and the integration of metabolites and bioactivators in plant physiology. He co-founded ATP Nutrition, a wholly owned subsidiary of Concentric and one of the largest plant nutrient suppliers in Canada. Prior to establishing ATP Nutrition, Chambers held lead agronomic techni- cal positions with various multinational fertilizer companies. SASKATCHEWAN SEED GROWERS AWARD STAFFEN, RUGG At their annual meeting in January, the Saskatchewan Seed Growers Association awarded two people for their service to the seed community in the province. Tanya Staffen, operations specialist seed and plant biosafety at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in Saskatoon, received the Honorary Life Membership. Getting the Outstanding Service Award was seed grower Bob Rugg of Rugg Seed Farm in Elstow, Sask. RENE BORLE RECEIVES AWARD FROM ALBERTA SEED PROCESSORS Rene Borle received the Outstanding Service Award from the Alberta Seed Processors at their 2019 annual meet- ing in Edmonton, Alta. in January. He has been involved in the Alberta seed industry for decades, helping to build and design seed cleaning plants. RENEE HOYME ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ALBERTA SEED GROWERS The Alberta Seed Growers (ASG) board of directors have elected Renee Hoyme as president and Tracy Niemela as vice-president follow- ing their annual general meeting. As outgoing president, Ward Oatway will remain on the executive as past-presi- dent for the next two years. POLICY HEALTH CANADA CONFIRMS SAFETY OF GLYPHOSATE Health Canada has confirmed that its 2017 re-evaluation of the safety of glyphosate was correct and will serve as its definitive stance on the safety of the herbicide.
