Harris Seeds promotes Vicky Rupley to executive vice president. Rupley is a vice president with the company and has been an officer on Harris Seeds’ board of directors since 2005. Maria Andrade, Robert Mwanga, Jan Low and Howarth Bouis were named the 2016 World Food Prize Laureates. Thanks to the combined efforts of these four laureates, more 10 million people have been positively impacted by bio- fortified crops, with a potential of several hundred million more in the coming decades. This year’s $250,000 prize will be divided equally between the four recipients. The prize rewards their work in countering world hunger and malnutri- tion through biofortification. The International Seed Testing Association elected its new executive committee, comprised of 11 individuals, for a three- year term. Members include Craig McGill, ISTA president, New Zealand; and Steve Jones, ISTA vice president, Canada. Gro Alliance announces that soybean industry veteran Glen Tollefson has been hired as its site lead for its Breckenridge, Minnesota, facility. Prior to joining Gro Alliance, he spent more than 27 years with DuPont Pioneer and was the production location manager at its Wahpeton, North Dakota soybean seed facility. The new film coat is designed to deal effectively with problems commonly met during the process of film coating soybeans. Seed film coating is a method of applying plant protection products and addi- tives. Applying the products directly to the seed has signifi- cantly less impact on the environment compared to traditional foliar or soil application.
