Syngenta offers an early look at its next wave of genetics, releas- ing a limited quantity of 10 additional new NK Corn hybrids for 2017 planting. The hybrids will be featured in 2017 trial plots and are available in limited commercial quantities this growing season, giving retailers and growers a sneak peek of what’s to come in 2018. The 10 hybrids join an existing portfolio including 22 other new NK Corn hybrids released for 2017 planting. Germains Seed Technology introduces ProBio SafeGuard, a certified organic seed treatment for spinach distributed exclusively through Holaday Seed Company. A new addition to Germains’ seed health technology category, ProBio SafeGuard protects the plant against Pythium during germination until the first true leaf stage. The seed treatment works by establishing a barrier around the emerging plant and the developing root system that helps protect spinach crops against Pythium. DuPont plans to commercialize two new DuPont Crop Protection products that complement new Pioneer brand A-Series soy- bean varieties. DuPont FeXapan herbicide plus VaporGrip Technology will be available to growers for the 2017 season with Pioneer brand soybeans with Roundup Ready 2 Xtend technol- ogy. Additionally, DuPont Lumisena fungicide seed treatment will be available on Pioneer brand soybeans for 2018 to help growers battle Phytophthora. New for the 2017 season, PowerCore trait technology from Dow AgroSciences gives growers an advanced option to control yield-robbing, above-ground insects in corn. It provides superior, broad-spectrum control by incorporating a pyramid of three dif- ferent Bt proteins. DuPont Pioneer announced the limited commercial introduction of its Pioneer brand Qrome products for the 2017. More than 100 growers in the western Corn Belt will plant Qrome products, fea- turing a triple stack of multiple insect protection traits, including two modes of action to control corn rootworm.
