54 GERMINATION.CA JULY 2019 BUSINESS BASF GOES WEST WITH HEAD OFFICE MOVE BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada will relocate its head office from Mississauga, Ont., to Calgary, Alta., effective Oct. 1, 2019. The move follows the acquisition of a range of businesses and assets from Bayer in 2018. The move includes a reorganization of several roles within BASF’s head office. The company will maintain its presence in both Western and Eastern Canada. The corn, soy, horti- culture, and specialty products portfolio will continue to be run from the East, while the canola, cereals and pulse business will be driven from the new western headquar- ters in Calgary. CORTEVA AGRISCIENCE COMPLETES SEPARATION FROM DOWDUPONT Corteva Inc. successfully completed its separation from DowDuPont. Corteva Agriscience launched on June 3, 2019 — the distribution of Corteva common stock was completed on June 1, with each DowDuPont stockholder of record receiving one share of Corteva common stock for every three shares of DowDuPont common stock held as of the close of business on May 24, 2019. DowDuPont stockholders will also receive cash in lieu of any fractional Corteva shares. DLF CLOSES PGG WRIGHTSON ACQUISITION As of May 1, DLF Seeds has closed the transaction to acquire PGG Wrightson’s seeds business and two new executive board members have been appointed — including Canada’s Robert Clark, president and CEO of DLF Pickseed. BRETTYOUNG, MAIZEX ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP Maizex Seeds Inc. and Brett-Young Seeds have announced a distribution partnership agreement. Under the agreement, BrettYoung will become the exclusive distributor for the Elite soybean brand in Western Canada starting in the 2020 production year. As part of the agreement, all Maizex and Elite soybean varieties will be consolidated and marketed under the Elite brand. In addition, under the agreement, Maizex Seeds will now be responsible for marketing seed corn. BrettYoung will continue to support existing Elite corn sales for the 2019 growing season. The Maizex and Elite corn brands will be consolidated under the Maizex brand for the 2020 growing season at which time Maizex will assume responsibility for distribution of the consolidated corn business in Western Canada.
