DowDuPont is now trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the stock ticker symbol “DWDP”. Spinoffs are expected for the next 18 months, according to the company. The new DowDuPont board of directors includes eight representatives from Dow and eight from DuPont. The board and investors are in discus- sions about spinoff businesses. According to a May 11 news release, the companies will include “a lead- ing global pure-play agriculture company; a leading global pure-play materials science company; and a leading technology and innovation- driven specialty products company.” INOCUCOR EXPANDS CANADA SALES AND DISTRIBUTION REACH Inocucor Technologies, an agri-tech company that produces biological crop inputs for agriculture, will have greater capacity to serve Canada’s farmers and greenhouse growers with the appointment of Jan Kral to vice-president of sales — Canada, and Sean Chiki, formerly of BASF Canada, to lead its Ontario sales effort. Impetus for the company’s expanded Canadian presence stems in part from a distribution agreement it cemented in April with Axter Agroscience, one of Canada’s providers and distributors of foliar feed- ing crop solutions. Axter supplies Inocucor’s Synergro product to Canada’s growers of crops that include straw- berry, tomato, lettuce and broccoli. BASF ACQUIRES SEED ASSETS FROM BAYER BASF has signed an agreement to acquire significant parts of Bayer’s seed and non-selective herbicide busi- nesses. Bayer intends to divest these assets in the context of its planned acquisition of Monsanto. The assets to be acquired include Bayer’s global glufosinate-ammonium non-selective herbicide business, commercialized under the Liberty, Basta and Finale brands, as well as its seed businesses for key row crops in select markets: canola hybrids in North America under the InVigor brand using the LibertyLink trait technology, oilseed rape mainly in European markets, cotton in the Americas and Europe as well as soybean in the Americas. The transaction also includes Bayer’s trait research and breeding capabilities for these crops and the LibertyLink trait and trademark.
