Texas Seed Association Enjoys Successful Annual Meeting

Texas A&M Student and TSTA Foundation Scholarship Recipient, Jonathon Stanush, and TSTA President Lester Kirkland

The one hundred attendees and participants of the Annual Convention and P&R Conference unanimously decreed the conference informative and fun. Having a good time while absorbing good information are the two most important goals of our conferences thus we’d have to call it a success.
After serving as TSTA President a record 18 months Coby Kriegshauser, Scott Seed Company, handed the gavel to President Lester Kirkland, Kirkland Seed – a Chromatin, Inc. Company, at Sunday evening’s President’s Reception, Dinner, and Foundation Fundraiser.  We express our sincerest thanks to Coby and Karen Kriegshauser as we look forward to Lester’s leadership this year.  First Lady Frances Kirkland hosted a very fun and productive lady’s event that proved very popular.
Thank you very much to all our presenters at the Production & Research Conference!  Fabulous information and great presentations all around.  We sincerely appreciate your contributions as we could not have such a conference without your critical contributions and your willingness to come and tell us about what you’re doing.
At our regular business meeting during the general session the membership approved several other board nominations electing:

  • Wes Atkison as First Vice President
  • Chris Wimmer as Second Vice President
  • Margaret Shields, Bayer, to the Board of Directors
  • Max Crittenden, Simplot Grower Solutions, to the Board of Directors
  • Ryan Gregory, Bayer, Chair of the Cotton Session
  • Doug Richards, Rice Tec, Inc. Chair of the Rice Session
  • Cheb Krueger, Warner Seeds, Inc., Chair of the Small Grains, Native Seeds, and Grass Seed Session
  • Carson Ward, Gayland Ward Seed Co., Chair of the Sorghum and Corn Session

Session Chairs are also fully vested members of the Board of Directors for a period of one year.  Margaret and Max are beginning three-year terms on the Board of Directors.
We express our sincerest appreciation to Richie Moss, East Texas Seed Company, as he rotates off the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, for all his contributions and leadership for many years.
