Dan Hogstad, CEO of NorthStar Genetics, announced that Lyle Marcus has been promoted to national sales manager for the company and its brands.
“Lyle brings 30-plus years of experience in the seed industry: from DSM to regional sales manager to product manager and now sales manager,” Hogstad says. “His energy and enthusiasm will carry NorthStar to the next level.
“As we begin to celebrate our 20th anniversary in the seed industry, we’re pleased to position ourselves to grow sales within our footprint, and to create new footprints in the future. Lyle’s abilities will enhance the growth opportunities, and we look forward to a bright future.”
To help Marcus in his new position, Hogstad also announced the hiring of Brian Helgeson, a Mahnomen county dealer for NorthStar, to the position of production assistant.
“Brian’s duties will include all plot organizing, planting, maintenance and harvesting our replicated and strip trials,” Hogstad adds. “It’s becoming a full-time job using plot data to facilitate proper genetic selections as we go forward. With new exciting traits showing up soon, we’ll need to do our homework on genetics. Brian’s efforts will go a long way in helping make better decisions.”
Starting with one employee in 1996, NorthStar Genetics has grown to be the largest privately held seed company in Minnesota, and the largest distributor of RR2 soybean seed in Western Canada.
