Corn Belt Seed Conference Day 1 Preview

Indiana Crop Improvement Association (ICIA)’s Corn Belt Seed Conference begins today with a full day of information-packed sessions and a big celebration of the conference’s 125th anniversary.

We’ll get started at 8:30 a.m. EDT with a welcome from ICIA’s CEO Craig Nelson. A passionate advocate for the seed sector, Nelson says he is extremely excited to officially kick off this year’s conference and to host the 125th anniversary celebrations.

Following the welcome, delegates will choose from two tracks of concurrent conference sessions. The Production Track, moderated by Seed World U.S. Editor Aimee Nielson, will include sessions about grain tech trends, biologicals, fungicide stewardship, cover crops, seed treatment application systems, soybean seed disease and the future of agribusiness.

Syngenta’s Wade Wiley will moderate the second conference session track, this one on all things business. Sessions in this track include risk mitigation, leadership, storytelling for business growth and consumer shopping trends.

As ICIA’s Board Chair Gene Kassmeyer said in the lead-up to this Conference, “When I personally think about attending conferences, I think about where can I be challenged? Where can I learn something I didn’t know before? When I think about the Corn Belt Seed Conference, put on by the Indiana Crop Improvement Association in conjunction with Purdue University, my mind goes to the quality of speakers, the quality of program… it’s an exceptional learning opportunity for people at all stages of their career and the organizations that they work for.”

If you’re in Indianapolis, make time to stroll through the exhibit hall. Exhibits will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The exhibit hall is an important opportunity to be inspired by new ideas, see new technologies and make the connections that build and sustain business.

At the end of the full day of sessions, all registered attendees are invited — “and encouraged!” says Nelson — to attend a special celebration event to commemorate 125 years of industry connection. “Join us for an evening of fun, food, entertainment, and networking as we celebrate 125 years!” he says.

For those who aren’t able to be in Indianapolis in person, stay tuned for photos, snapshot interviews, perspective and session recaps from the Corn Belt Seed Conference, all available here on Seed World U.S.
