Inari recently opened a new 42,000-square-foot facility in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The $20 million expansion, detailed in a recent news release, is the company’s largest so far and aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of higher-yielding seeds to meet market demands.
Using its SEEDesign™ technology platform, Inari integrates AI-powered predictive design with advanced multiplex gene editing to create products focused on promoting food security, sustainable agriculture, and farmer well-being. The West Lafayette site serves as the hub for product development and commercial operations, building on research conducted at Inari’s headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Ghent, Belgium.
“This expansion ushers in an exciting new phase for Inari as we scale up to deliver our breakthrough products to seed customers,” said Inari CEO Ponsi Trivisvavet. “Not only does it optimize and accelerate our operations, the expanded capacity and capabilities allow us to address more crops and crop varieties.”
The expansion more than doubles the site’s greenhouse facilities and includes state-of-the-art LED lighting, environmental controls, and additional office and warehouse space. This growth is expected to increase Inari’s employee base in West Lafayette, which currently represents about half of the company’s 300 global employees.
