Let’s put people before politics.
As I reflect on the weekend’s events, on the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, my heart is heavy with a mixture of shock, sadness and yet a fierce resolve. It is an important reminder that violence has no place in our society, regardless of political affiliations. We must stand together, as one nation, unequivocally condemning such acts.
This event transcends politics. I spent a fair amount of time reading about the attendee who was killed shielding his family from the assassin’s bullets. What an honorable sacrifice for him to protect his people with his body to the point of death. It is a stark reminder that our shared humanity should always come first. We absolutely must set aside our differences and focus on what truly matters: the well-being and safety of all Americans, and the future of our nation.
In the seed industry, we understand the importance of unity and collaboration. Our work feeds the world, providing the foundation for a healthy and prosperous global population. We innovate, cultivate and nurture the seeds that sustain life. Overall, our industry exemplifies how coming together, regardless of background or belief, can yield extraordinary results.
Now, we must embody these principles. The attempt on the former president’s life is a sobering reminder that violence and division only serve to weaken our society. We must denounce such actions and reaffirm our commitment to peaceful discourse and mutual respect.
As professionals in the seed industry, our mission is clear. We are here to feed the world, a task that requires unwavering dedication and cooperation. Politics may influence many aspects of our lives, but when it comes to our work, we must rise above partisanship. Our goal is to ensure that every person, regardless of where they live or whom they support, has access to nutritious food.
The seeds we plant today will grow into the sustenance of tomorrow. I hope we will plant seeds of unity, compassion and resilience in the wake of recent events. We are stronger together, and by working as one, we can overcome any challenge.
In our industry, we see firsthand the power of growth and renewal. This can be a metaphor for our nation. In the face of adversity, we can grow stronger and more united. We can choose to focus on the things that bring us together rather than those that tear us apart.
To my colleagues in the seed industry, and to all Americans, I urge you to join me in condemning violence in all its forms. Let us honor our shared values of peace, justice and respect for human life.
It’s an honor to partner with you,
Aime
