ASTA Requests Input on Advancing Cover Crops: Survey Open ‘Til May 31

New survey from the American Seed Trade Association and university partners looking for industry responses

The American Seed Trade Association (ASTA), in collaboration with the University of Missouri-Columbia and University of Vermont, is seeking feedback from the seed industry on cover crops. ASTA recently launched a new survey to find out the industry’s perspectives on how to expand and improve the cover crop seed market, as well as how to meet increased demand in cover crop seed.

The survey, which only takes a few minutes to complete, is available here until May 31.

ASTA is working on improvements in cover crop varieties for over 250,000 American farmers. The organization is aiming to double cover crop use, with the goal of reaching 40 million acres by 2030. To do so, the association is soliciting feedback from the industry to:

  • evaluate the opportunities and challenges associated with cover crop seed production and sales,
  • identify barriers to increased cover crop production, and
  • assess industry input and market demand for named vs. Variety Not Stated (VNS) cover crop varieties.

ASTA hopes the results from this survey will increase understanding of the cover crop seed industry.
