Millborn Seeds recently announced it is acquiring Luhrs Certified Seed in Imperial, Nebraska. In a news release, Millborn officials said they are creating an integrated supply chain to deliver a diverse range of more than 1,200 seed species to U.S. and international farmers, ranchers and landowners. The release explained the expansion will enhance the availability of diverse seed solutions throughout the Western Plains and across North America.
“Millborn aligns well with our goals and values at Luhrs, so we knew Millborn was the right fit,” said Luhrs Certified Seed owner Tom Luhrs. “We want to improve the seed supply chain for all producers, and that’s what Millborn is all about.”
The release mentioned Luhrs Certified Seed is strategically positioned in the heart of the Western Plains and boasts exceptional seed production facilities, including two cleaning lines and a large processing capacity. Luhrs said this makes the company an ideal match for Millborn, which continues to invest in equipment and facilities that advance the seed industry.
“Millborn’s goal is to create an integrated supply chain and provide the highest quality seed products for our customers. The addition of Luhrs Certified Seed allows us to reach farmers, ranchers, and dealers in the Western Plains faster, and with the highest quality product,” said Millborn CEO Matt Fenske, in the release. “We’re excited to add the Luhrs personnel to our team and get involved in the Imperial community.”
This acquisition also enables Renovo Seed to expand its distribution network into the Western Plains. Shannon Kubik, Renovo Seed brand president, said the new facilities will improve the accessibility of diverse seed options for farmers and ranchers.
“Renovo Seed is committed to making forage, cover crop, and conservation seed easy to access and simple to use on farms and ranches across the country,” Kubrik said in the release. “The Luhrs facility in Nebraska will allow us to serve our customers and dealers in the west even better.”
