Breeder Direct has launched two new series of corn hybrids, according to a release. The Contend Series of hybrids is designed to offer consistent performance in challenging environments, while the Command Series of hybrids is an elite line intended for better growing conditions.
“Independent seed companies need multiple genetic choices to achieve true independence,” said Marc Neuman, director of sales and product development for Breeder Direct in the release. “The launch of both the Contend and Command series of corn hybrids gives seed companies options that result in success on every acre, no matter the yield potential.”
Cuba City, Wisconsin-based Breeder Direct launched in 2020 with the goal to provide unique germplasm options that deliver more margin opportunities and product diversity to independent seed companies. Since its inception, Breeder Direct has focused on accessing and evaluating products with the goal of enabling every acre to be profitable. The effort has yielded a portfolio of germplasm options from nearly 20 originators world-wide. The Command and Contend Series of corn hybrids stem from this product pool.
According to the release, hybrids from both the Contend and Command series are backed by multiple years of testing data across diverse locations and are supported by US-based spec production. They are ready to be launched in the 2023-2024 sales season.
“Together, these hybrids offer a full range of choice to help support your lineup with the ability to match the right hybrid for the right acre,” says Breeder Direct’s website. “Our unwavering commitment to the seed industry still stands strong: Every acre deserves to be profitable.”
