Communicating with policymakers can be a difficult and confusing process. Understanding the jobs they do and how they make decisions can be hard to understand. What do policymakers consider when creating new or changing policies?
Policymakers oversee change and making difficult decisions, but when contacting them who should you reach out to and when? On Wednesday, July 12 at 12 p.m. CDT Seed Speaks has three panelists joining to talk about how to communicate with policymakers.
Dave Carey: Carey joined the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA) in January 2020 as vice-president of government and industry relations He leads the organization’s lobbying efforts and spends his days engaging directly with federal politicians and policymakers, their staff and industry partners. Prior to joining CCGA, Carey spent eight years with the Canadian Seed Trade Association, including three years as executive director. He began his career in Parliament as a senior political staffer for members of Parliament from Ontario and Alberta, holding senior roles on three election campaigns.
Jeremy Posluszny: Posluszny is the director of legislation and media for the Alex Sauickie, a member of the New Jersey General Assembly. Before joining Sauickie’s team in August 2022, Posluszny was a legislative aide for Assemblyman Ronald S. Dancer. There he researched and made recommendations on public policies, connected constituents with state departments and agencies, and developed materials to communicate important issues with the public.
Robert D Saik: Saik has forty years of experience as a professional agrologist, entrepreneur and an international consultant who’s worked with a wide variety of agriculturalists from Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture to Bill Gates. He was the founder and CEO of the Agri-Trend/Agri-Data Group of Companies which was acquired by Trimble. Saik also served as CEO of DOT Technology Corp (Autonomous Farming) through its acquisition by Raven Industries.
