Biome Makers License BeCrop Technology in New Partnership

Biome Makers announced a strategic collaboration with DISAGRO, a Latin American agriculture solutions provider based in Guatemala. DISAGRO is partnering with providers like Biome Makers to offer the newest innovative technology and help recover soil health, according to a release.

Through AgritecGEO, DISAGRO’s advisory service, the company provides advanced digital agriculture technology catered to the region. AgritecGEO collects, analyzes and shares information efficiently with its users. The service model will now incorporate BeCrop technology in its services portfolio.

The licensing agreement between the two companies will allow Biome Makers to expand into 11 new markets in Latin America including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic and Belize. This increase in reach will secure the standard for soil health analysis — BeCrop — is available to all stakeholders.

BeCrop technology is “the first digital soil technology platform with the largest global database of 10 million taxonomic references of soil microorganisms, delivering a functional crop-specific analysis of the soil microbiome,” explained the release. BeCrop decodes soil biology, providing user-friendly insights fueled by data centered around farmland’s underground bioactivity.

“At DISAGRO, we encourage innovation in agriculture by delivering the most cutting-edge technology in the world to our customers. That is why the alliance made with Biome Makers and the integration of BeCrop technology to AgritecGEO services reaffirm our commitment to improving conditions and information for optimizing resources, precise task execution and greater knowledge of the crops,” said Estuardo Jara, marketing corporate director at DISAGRO.

This collaboration will enhance DISAGRO’s reach with its improved wet lab, which is set to open in 2023. Building a physical lab in Latin America promotes quicker results and allows growers and advisers to formulate better agronomic decisions.

“Biome Makers is inspired by the work DISAGRO does for the farming communities in Latin America. This partnership is a huge step to providing advanced biological soil analytics to growers in the region, empowering them to optimize inputs, saving time and money and ultimately improving the health of their farmland, crop quality and yield,” added Adrian Ferrero, Biome Makers’ CEO and cofounder.
