After two years of virtual-only events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many are excited to get together for a live gathering. However, ISF notes that it’s not possible for everyone to join for various reasons and opted to provide a light virtual option for those who cannot attend.
For those attending online, catch the Channel World Seed broadcasts on various platforms including the congress website, YouTube, and ISF social media.
“The idea of Channel World Seed is to offer our online audiences the highlights and key takeaways of the panels. Delegates on-site will have the benefit of following the full session, seeing the speakers live and interacting with them. Those who cannot attend in-person will still have the chance to catch the gist of these discussions,” says Francine Sayoc, ISF communications manager.
Channel World Seed with feature five sessions. However, instead of live broadcasting the hour-and-a-half panels taking place onsite, they’ll provide 30-minute recaps with selected speakers from each panel.
“It’s like a post-game analysis of each panel,” Sayoc adds. “What were the outcomes, what were the key takeaways and what is the path forward?”
Participants will be able to use chat functions to engage, virtually, with speakers. The five Channel World Seed panels include (all in CEST time zone):
- Monday, 16 May at 16:00, International Seed Trade: The Road to a Systems Approach
- Tuesday, 17 May at 8:30, Seed Resilience: Partnering Beyond Boundaries
- Tuesday, 17 May at 16:00, Plant Breeding Innovation: the Need for Internationally Aligned and Future-Proof Policies
- Wednesday, 18 May at 8:30, A Reality Check of the Relationship Between the Seed Sector and Farmers
- Wednesday, 18 May at 16:00, Transforming Food Systems: the Engagement of the Seed Sector with the Value Chain
The sessions will be shot on-location in an ISF tv studio in the congress exhibition area to capture the action and excitement of the event while maximizing the sound and video quality for viewers. For more information, visit ISF’s website to learn more.
