Syngenta Releases New Wheat Variety Targeted for Pacific Northwest

To help wheat growers in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) experience top varieties with consistent performance and strong agronomic characteristics, Syngenta is introducing a new hard red spring wheat variety bred to address local growing conditions.

New AgriPro brand wheat seed variety AP Venom is now available for purchase, and offers versatility for fall or spring planting.

In the PNW, top-performing hard red spring wheat varieties are known to have high yield potential and excellent end-use quality. AP Venom provides growers with a double benefit: protein and yield, topping Syngenta fall-planted DNS Trials over the last three years. In addition to delivering high yield potential with very good protein, AP Venom also offers tolerance to stripe rust and very good to excellent tolerance to Septoria, and the variety is versatile for fall or spring seeding in the PNW.

“AP Venom is an excellent example of the top-performing wheat varieties growers have come to expect,” says Riley Hille, AgriPro key account lead in the Western region. “With AgriPro brand wheat varieties, Syngenta is continuing to push for genetic diversity and pursue wheat varieties with excellent end-use quality characteristics.”

Backed by more than 50 years of wheat breeding expertise, AgriPro brand wheat varieties are consistent top performers that offer best-in-class disease packages, leading agronomics and outstanding yields.
