Clariant’s Liquid and Powder Gloss Seed Coatings Create Value Through Improved Performance and Appearance

Clariant’s Agrocer® range delivers maximum treating performance and maximum gloss impact with their new powder and liquid gloss coating.

Building on more than 100 years of experience and superior product performance, Clariant’s Agrocer brand, in partnership with Standard Colors, has launched powder gloss seed treatment products, to be followed by liquid gloss products in the near future.

Powder gloss treatments offer two distinct ranges of finish: matte and sparkle. Applied as an add-on, gloss treatment can accentuate any color to appear brighter and provide a high-end glossy appearance to differentiate a seed product from competitors.

Additionally, the application provides customers the unique opportunity to make a branding and identification statement with their seeds while improving seed treating process performance and providing better plantability.

“When people think of gloss, they think of a pearlescent appearance, which is correct, but our gloss products are formulated to also provide maximum performance in treating and planting, using no fillers,” says Mark Self, market segment manager for special applications at Clariant.

Applied as a second-step of the seed treatment color process, gloss can be added on top of any shade of color and be used in any color treatment, making it a dynamic branding and identification tool for those who choose to apply it.

“The gloss also helps to dry seeds faster. The seed is drier exiting the seed treatment process, and with the help of the gloss’ barrier properties, they bridge less than seeds that haven’t been gloss treated,” says Standard Colors Agro Group’s Vice President of Technology, John Kibbee. “By allowing the seeds to dry more quickly, the gloss helps when applying today’s higher application rates to deliver additional agronomic benefits,” he says.

A value-added addition for all major economic agriculture crop seeds, as well as specialty seeds, gloss application is an option for all, with no minimum order size stipulations or product bundling involved.

Gloss treatment not only creates value in the aesthetics of seeds, it also enhances performance to its unique particle shape and physical properties, the gloss treatment improves both slip and flow in the seeder, and the plantability of the seeds. The value of a Clariant gloss coating is among the best on the seed color treatment market, as Standard Colors Agro Group’s Vice President of Business Development, Sales and Marketing, Kevin Brost shares.

“We offer high-value, customer specific formulations and size to fit individual needs,” he says. “There are no fillers or bulking in our products. Clariant Agrocer glosses and products are amongst the top performing glosses on the market. Also, you can purchase these products without the concern of being bundled into a larger package of products. Buy the product you need without making purchase concessions, or compromising on value or technical requirements.”

Combined with industry-leading product innovation and performance, the Clariant- Standard Colors Agro Group partnership also provides customer service that is second to none; the team is always eager to answer questions and provide solutions to new, existing and potential customers.
