Seed World Innovation Webinar Series: Next Generation Genotyping – Better breeding predictions at a lower cost

This webinar will present the recent advancements in custom SNP panel design using whole genome analysis and review various genotyping technologies, optimized for different agricultural use cases.

During this session you’ll learn:

• Why understanding your diversity is key to efficient and applicable genotyping
• Which various genotyping methods should be applied for different species and use cases
• Why the logistics of the genotyping is as important for success as the data itself
• How advanced computational tools may reduce the cost per data point
• The importance of understanding the full breeding process for tailoring the optimal genotyping solution

Meet Our Webinar Speakers:

Dr. Sharon Reikhav
Director of genomic solutions, NRGene

Sharon has a PhD in molecular genetics and system biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science and a BSc in agronomy from HUJI. He has been working in the ag bio tech industry for over 10 years and enjoys running as much as he enjoys science.

Dr. Benjamin Kaufman
Director of Operations, Agriplex

Dr. Kaufman received his degree in molecular genetics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has more than 20 years of Agricultural biotechnology experience; served as the Secretary General of the International Seed Testing Association, as a Senior Scientist at DuPont Pioneer (now Corteva) and manager of DNA technologies at two Service laboratories.

Jason Hein
Agrigenomics Market Segment Manager, LGC, Biosearch Technologies, the Genomics Division of LGC Group.

In his current role, Jason oversees development and implementation of the Agrigenomic Sector strategy for the division. He has extensive experience in the Life Science industry holding both technical and commercial roles, where he has worked with the largest agricultural companies in the world to implement new genotyping technologies. Jason has been with LGC for 6 years and is currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

Dr. Kristian Ridley
Project Sales Manager for Agrigenomics, Europe, Eurofins

Prior to joining Eurofins, Kris spent 10 years in the Asia-Pacific region developing business within the agriculture applied markets, primarily in high throughput genotyping and next generation sequencing applications. During this time, he has gained a wealth of experience in bringing cutting edge technologies to both established, as well as developing agriculture industries and across diverse geographies.  Previously Kris held a postdoctoral research position at the University of Leicester and received his PhD from the University of Nottingham.
