Get Ready for the CROP Innovation and Business Conference

On April 14-16, 2019, the bi-annual CROP Innovation & Business conference will take place in Amsterdam. The conference will address the most influential trends that will affect crop innovation and value chain strategies, including indoor farming, whole genome sequencing, artificial intelligence, precision agriculture, consolidation, economic growth and sustainability.

The goal of the conference is to inspire, to initiate collaboration and innovation, and to promote an open exchange of information. Elements like innovator pitches from start-ups and the involvement of young scientists and entrepreneurs will be part of the program.

This year, the innovation & Business conference looks to focus on innovation and collaboration in plant breeding for sustainable agriculture.

The conference is kicking off with a special Sunday evening opening program, with three speakers focusing on different topics:

  • Peter Eckes, president of BASF Bioscience Research will speak about how digitalization and artificial intelligence will transform agriculture.
  • Beat Späth, director for Agricultural Biotechnology EuropaBio will discuss the consequences of the European Union’s approval system for GMOs.
  • Clive Gristwood, executive vice president of R&D for Foods & Refreshment Unilever will speak on the value and responsible and sustainable food supply chain.

In addition, there will be a pannel with representatives from the International Seed Federation, Bioseed, EuropaBio, KeyGene, Royal van Zanten and Corteva Agriscience, which will reflect on the impact of the regulatory landscape on the seed industry, value chain and society.
