Illinois, Indiana to Host Seed Conditioning Workshop

The 32nd Annual Illinois-Indiana Seed Conditioning Workshop will be March 14 at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign, Illinois. The workshop is designed for seed professionals who operate seed equipment, work in seed plants and handle and harvest seed.

Registration costs $90 for the first person from a company and $60 for each additional person from the same company. Participants can earn continuing education units (CEUs and CCHs). An agenda and registration are both available online.

Topics and speakers will include:

  • “Getting the Most Out of Your Plant” by Alan Gaul, Iowa State Seed Science Center.
  • “Optical Sorters for Husking Beds” by Marco Azzaretti, Key Technology.
  • “Load Rate Challenges & Best Biological Practices” by Vikram Mehrotra, Monsanto Company.
  • “Poncho VOTiVO 2.0 & Application” by Nick Tinsley, Bayer.
  • “Color Sorters” by Pat Pike, Satake, and Don Uglow, Buhler.
  • “How a Dryer Works & Retrofitting Options” by Bill Kavage, Optek Inc.
  • “Seed quality and Issues Update” by Steve Beals and Doug Miller of the Illinois Crop Improvement Association and Diane Plewa of the University of Illinois Plant Clinic.
  • “Labeling: Good, Bad, and Ugly” by Don Robison, Office of the Indiana State Chemist.
  • “New Safety Concerns: PPE” by Jeff Lewis, Bayer.
