Pansy, Brassica, Rose and Daffodil in the Spotlight for 2017

Since the early 1980s, the National Garden Bureau (NGB) has been naming plants of the year, recognizing those that are easy to grow, genetically diverse and includes lots of new varieties. 2017 marks the year of the pansy (annual), brassica (vegetables/edibles), rose (perennial) and daffodil (bulbs).

The crops are selected by the NGB board of directors with consumers in mind.

A new aspect of this year’s program is a video about the edible class. Diane Blazek, NGB executive director, shares that the video features star cook, author and storyteller Jonathan Bardzik.

Any retailer that’s interested in promoting these crops can access materials (fact sheets, logos and photos) developed by NGB at ngb.org.
