Under the agreement between the National Service of Quality and Plant and Seed Health (Senave) and small producers for the production of certified seeds from family farming, Senave technicians visited farmers interested in becoming certified seed producers and traders.
Meetings were held with members of the Association of Small and Medium Producers of Humaitá, the Association of Producers and Fairgrounds of Umbú Island, and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Pilar, all of whom are aiming to strengthen their production capabilities through this initiative.
Initially, the focus will be on bean production, with plans to expand to other crops in the future, according to a press release.
As part of the agreement, SENAVE will provide ongoing technical support throughout the production process, including batch sampling, laboratory testing, and quality control.
Additionally, training sessions will be offered on key topics such as soil management, application of phytosanitary products, control of cutting ants, and other aspects critical for sustainable production development. These sessions will be conducted in collaboration with technicians from the Directorate of Agricultural Extension.
To further support these efforts, registration fees for farmers will be waived, easing their registration into the system.
The Senave delegation was led by the Technical General Director, Eng. Agr. Jadiyi Torales, and the Director of Semillas, Eng. Agr. Santiago Benítez.
