Naktuinbouw will raise its fees by 6.5% effective Jan. 1, 2025. This increase will apply to variety testing, inspection services, and laboratory tests. The adjustment is driven by rising personnel and operational costs, as well as the impact of inflation. With this price change, Naktuinbouw will be able to maintain its financial sustainability.
The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN) is currently establishing the new fees that will apply for the Board for Plant Varieties from 1 January 2025. The fees for variety testing activities are based on these rates, according to a press release.
The fees for DUS research will be listed on the website of the Board for Plant Varieties. Naktuinbouw will publish the fees for Variety Testing 2025 on this website before the end of December 2024.
The three sector boards submit an annual proposal for statutory inspection fees to ensure inspection activities are fully funded. These fees are formally adopted by Naktuinbouw’s board and subsequently require approval from the Ministry of LVVN. Naktuinbouw is strictly prohibited from using the revenue for any other internal purposes and does not receive financial support from the Ministry of LVVN for its activities. The release states the statutory fees are determined based on the cost-maker-cost-bearer principle.
The Ministry of LVVN has determined the new inspection fees for 2025, incorporating the inflation adjustment mentioned earlier. Naktuinbouw will publish the 2025 inspection fees, including those for import and export inspections, on this website by the end of December 2024. Interested in learning how the phytosanitary fees are calculated? Please refer to the Memorandum on Transparency of Fees for more information.
The release notes that their “fees for laboratory testing are adjusted annually in line with rising costs. The fees for these services are outside the statutory framework and therefore conform with market prices. Naktuinbouw will publish the fees for Testing & Analyses 2025 on this website before the end of December 2024.”
