Finalists announced for Euroseeds’ 2024 InnovAction Stage

Euroseeds has announced the list of 12 innovators that will advance to its InnovAction Stage competition, to be held during the Euroseeds2024 Congress in Copenhagen on October 14 and 15. The dozen finalists cover a wide variety of plant research and breeding innovation, from enhancing modern plant breeding techniques, to supporting crop resilience and quality, to advancing data-driven decision-making in breeding.

In a Euroseeds’ release, Euroseeds’ secretary general & CEO Garlich von Essen said, “We are delighted to present these pioneering finalists. Their cutting-edge innovations promise to accelerate plant breeding innovation. The InnovAction Stage finalists embody the innovative spirit of the seed and plant breeding sector as well as the commitment required to tackle the agricultural challenges of the future.”

Seed World Europe will be introducing each of the finalists in more detail over the coming weeks. The finalists include: 

  • Amphasys AG specializes in mobile cell analysis solutions, evolving from a 2012 spin-off of Axetris AG. 

  • Arable integrates weather, plant, and soil/irrigation data with advanced modeling and machine learning to provide comprehensive, real-time crop insights in a user-friendly system. 

  • BetterSeeds employs CRISPR technology to create resilient crops suited for climate challenges. 

  • Cibus specializes in high throughput gene editing technology to create precise and predictable plant traits, boosting farming productivity and sustainability without using foreign DNA or transgenes. 

  • Computomics GmbH uses AI on bioinformatics data to offer climate-smart technology for rapid, adaptive breeding solutions that enhance crop variety, quality, resilience, and adaptability. 

  • Healthycrop aims to eradicate fungal infections in major crops, leveraging decades of university research. 

  • Multiplex Spa offers affordable diagnostics with AI-powered cloud services for agriculture and health. 

  • PhenoLytics provides high-throughput 3D phenotyping in partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute, enhancing seed and plant quality. 

  • Rainbow Crops uses multiplex genome editing, AI, and precision breeding to engineer complex gene networks, creating resilient crops that thrive under biotic and abiotic stresses. 

  • RoboTec PTC GmbH utilizes AI and laser technology for precision plant propagation, improving efficiency and growth cycles. 

  • SMARTtray® GmbH provides an innovative high-throughput method for plant cultivation and tissue sampling, automating the process for more efficient, safer, and cost-effective implementation. 

  • Solynta – _True Potato Seeds innovates hybrid potato varieties from true potato seed to bolster global food security.
