At the ISF World Seed Congress 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa, Marcel Bruins, Editorial Director of European Seed, sits down with Lorena Basso, President at Semillas Basso in Argentina. Apart from running her company Semillas Basso in Argentina, Lorena is also on the Executive Committee of ISF. She explains why it is so important that the ISF congress came to Cape Town, how she sees the impact of the congress for the rest of Africa, and what she hopes people will remember when they go home after the congress. ISF put the spotlight on women in agriculture, and Lorena speaks about why that is so important. She was recently the president of the Seed Association of the Americas (SAA) and formally the president of the Argentina Seed Association (ASA). She expands how things are going in the seed sector in South America right now, and where the biggest challenges are.
