Syngenta group announced after the general shareholders’ meeting that Jin-Yong Cai was unanimously elected as a new independent director as well as a member of the board’s Compensation Committee and Audit Committee according to a release.
Cai is currently a partner at Global Infrastructure Partners. Previously, he was the CEO of the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group. Cai has expertise in international finance through his time at IFC, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Aon and PetroChina, among others. He has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and expertise in the economics of emerging markets. Cai is also a board member at Aon plc and an independent director of PetroChina Company Limited.

He has a PhD in Economics from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Peking University.
