AgbioInvestor announced the launch of a new tool that offers easily accessible data centered on genetically modified crops. The platform allows users to access information surrounding the current GM crop situation, recognize trends and make informed decisions for future strategies, according to a release.
The analysis consists of data from the creation of the GM seed industry to today’s situation in 2022. The GM monitor shares regulatory approvals for countries cultivating GM crops, as well as those importing essential grains, oilseeds and their derivatives.
The GM monitor provides:
- GM crop areas with the total percentage of crop area they represent split by country/crop
- The approval of cultivation and importation of GM crops for food and feed purposes
- “Harvested grain and oilseed trade in volume and value terms,” according to the release
- News pertaining to GM crop technology, the latest tech approvals and company developments and collaborations
- Updates of AgbioInvestor’s study on the timeframe and costs related to commercializing a GM trait
- Data available in an interactive data platform, as well as downloadable Excel versions
“AgbioInvestor is very pleased to be able to provide a comprehensive free source of GM crop data for everyone, whether they are at a company involved in agriculture, in a regulatory position or in academia,” said Allister Phillips, partner of Agbiolnvestor.
GM monitor is free and delivered fully online through an interactive platform with the option to export data.
