UFS Makes Initial Assessment of Impacts on the Activity of Seed Companies in Ukraine

Nearly are dedicated to seed research, production and distribution activities. These activities, combined with exports, represent for French seed companies nearly400 million euros in turnover.

This inevitable drop in seed production in Ukraine will therefore lead to a shortage for the coming campaign and probably the following ones. French seed companies already faced with tension on production plans at the national level, are asking the government to take this new situation into account for their public agricultural and food policies.

“We are very concerned about the situation in Ukraine and its consequences… It is essential to quickly anticipate seed needs to respond to the new challenges opened up by this conflict,” says Claude Tabel, president of the UFS.
