There isn’t a more beautiful and historic place to be in Eastern Canada in July than Quebec City, and that’s where we’ll be heading for our annual conference.

Set to take place July 7-9 at the Hilton Quebec, this year’s theme, “Growing Success: Driven by Passion,” truly reflects the dedication, innovation, and resilience of our seed industry in shaping a sustainable and prosperous future for agriculture.
One of the biggest draws of the Seeds Canada annual conference is its lineup of outstanding speakers, panels, and discussions that tackle key issues facing the seed sector. This year, we’re thrilled to welcome keynote speaker Diego Risso, executive director of the Seed Association of the Americas (SAA). Diego brings a wealth of experience in advancing productivity, sustainability, and global food security. I know his insights will resonate strongly with attendees.
Beyond the keynote, the conference offers valuable insights into the latest industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements shaping the future of our sector. Member committee sessions will focus on critical challenges, from trade and intellectual property to regulatory affairs and seed innovation.
Notably, this will be the first time our four new policy and issue committees — outlined at our semi-annual meeting — will formally operate. This marks a pivotal moment for Seeds Canada as we refine our approach to advocacy and industry representation.
A major highlight this year is the inaugural presentation of the Seeds Canada Award of Excellence. This award is an opportunity to recognize outstanding contributions to our industry and is always a meaningful part of the event.
In terms of format, the conference will blend formal and informal sessions, ensuring ample opportunities for networking. The Seeds Canada conference has always been a prime venue for connecting with our diverse membership of seed analysts, breeders, distributors, growers, retailers, processors and service providers. Bringing everyone together under one roof underscores our role as the national voice of the seed sector.
With Quebec City as our backdrop, we’re set for engaging discussions on innovation, sustainability, and excellence in agriculture. Of course, with a federal election expected by October, there’s still some uncertainty around key issues like the Seed Regulatory Modernization (SRM) process and trade policies. By July, we hope to move past speculation and focus on concrete industry developments.
As always, the Seeds Canada annual conference promises to be an essential event for industry professionals. I look forward to the conversations, the connections, and the insights that will shape the future of our sector. See you in Quebec City! For info on how to register stay tuned to our website.
