Thermoseed has been widely used in Europe and is being introduced in Canada via Lantmännen’s seed business partners. It is a unique heat treatment method that provides quality seed for conventional and organic farming. The process is comparable to pasteurization using warm, moist air, neutralizing the infection of the seed without compromising seed germination. As a result, seed vigour is often increased.
ThermoSeed treats seed-borne infections very effectively without the use of chemistry. Due to its high efficacy and quality, ThermoSeed competes with chemical seed treatments against most diseases in cereals and legume crops grown in Canada. In addition, the method is effective in a large number of crops against both fungi, nematodes and insect infestation in the seed.
