Today we hosted our Retail Roundtable webinar Midge Tolerant Wheat: A SWOT Analysis. We learned quite a few things from our webinar! With insights from researchers Santosh Kumar (AAFC wheat breeder) and Tyler Wist (AAFC field crop entomology research scientist), we gained some useful insights into opportunities surrounding breeding and challenges posed by insect threats.
Lorne Hadley (director of intellectual property protection for Seeds Canada) gave our audience a handy update on the MTW Stewardship Assurance Site. Also, Holly Hamilton explained challenges and opportunities surrounding refuge testing. Finally, Todd Hyra of SeCan shed light on how midge tolerant wheat is becoming more popular than ever, which means an even greater need for protecting the technology.
