The Canadian Seed Growers’ Association will be holding its 112th annual general meeting at the Elkhorn Resort and Conference Centre, at Clear Lake, Man., in the Riding Mountain National Park July 6-8, 2016._x000D_

The theme for the 2016 meeting is “Invigorate”, where CSGA will refresh, revitalize, stimulate, rejuvenate and strengthen your outlook on the Canadian seed industry and our purpose in Canadian agriculture._x000D_

To begin the meeting on July 6, the results of CSGA’s recent strategic plan for the seed industry will be unveiled with a discussion including key stakeholders of the seed industry value chain._x000D_

On July 7, attendees will hear from Lawrence and Chris Warwaruk from the Farmery Estate Brewery. Hear about their success in reinventing and saving their family farm by developing a four-star restaurant and then a gastropub (the first in Winnipeg), and how they have gone full circle back to rural Manitoba and are about to open up their own Estate Brewery on property purchased in Neepawa, Manitoba (a 1 hour drive from Clear Lake)._x000D_

They have had nationwide coverage in Maclean’s magazine, Readers Digest and have entered into a successful partnership with David Chilton and Arlene Dickinson from CBC’s Dragon’s Den._x000D_

Eduardo de la Sotta will address the meeting on his work with contra season nurseries in Chile. Eduardo is the general manager of Curimapu, and under his guidance the company runs four subsidiary businesses including the processing, production and exportation of field crops, production and export of vegetable seeds, delivering agricultural services to the subsidiaries crops and corn and raps commercialization under the license of the French brand Limagrain._x000D_

On July 8, the meeting will conclude with a special presentation from Jon Montgomery, Olympian and Amazing Race Canada host. He hails from Russell, Man., which is an hour-and-a-half drive from Clear Lake, and his story about earning a gold medal in skeleton at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver is not what you would expect.
