Some might say he grew up in the seed industry but this 44-year veteran credits much of his success to those around him and those leaders who set the stage before him.
“Steel sharpens steel, and I thank you for being the steel that has sharpened Pam and I, allowing us to serve this great industry,” says Jerry Monk of Kelly Green Seeds and Warner Seeds who received the American Seed Trade Association’s Lifetime Honorary Member Award.
The award, given at ASTA’s 132nd Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., is one of the highest awards given out by the association and is in recognition of untiring service to the association, as well as the seed industry.
Monk has directed operations domestically and internationally with a wide array of experience in all phases of seed operations, from production to management. Besides serving as CEO of the Texas-based Kelly Green Seeds and Warner Seeds, he also heads Warner International Seeds based in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Warner Seeds SRL based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Service-minded, Monk has participated and led a number of committees and associations within the seed industry. He is a past president of the Texas Seed Trade Association, the Southern Seeds Association and ASTA. His service continues today as president of the Seed Association of the Americas.
Seed World congratulates Monk on this special recognition.
