Total Seed Production, Inc. (TSP) is adding an irrigation pivot to another one of their seed fields. Even though multiple studies have proven irrigation is not necessarily needed in the top producing counties in Indiana, TSP feels it is important to irrigate in order to continue producing their seed. This pivot will provide irrigation to 354 acres.
Not only is irrigation important if rainfall is insufficient during the growing months, but it is also used to reduce the stress by keeping the plants cool. This new pivot makes the sixth for their operation with a total of 1,527 irrigated acres.
“Having irrigation helps us to provide the moisture to our crops whenever needed. Sufficient water is just as important as installing tile to help drain excess moisture throughout the year,” says Aaron Conaway, president.
