Vegetable seed company Hazera is adds new leek varieties to its portfolio due to a fruitful cooperation with Syngenta. The agreement between both parties went into force July 1. With the new varieties, Hazera will strengthen its current leek assortment.
Hazera has a long heritage in breeding leek, serving growers with hybrid varieties in all main slots. High yield, easy peeling and resistance to bolting are key aspects in the Hazera leek breeding program. By combining modern science and traditional breeding methods, Hazera’s research and development team is able to create top quality varieties for growers and plant raisers. In this breeding process, Hazera works closely together with International Research Institutions, applying the latest science to generate better solutions for customers worldwide.
With the cooperation between Syngenta and Hazera, Hazera will be able to optimize the breeding program and to further develop its market position in leek. It will assist Hazera to better serve the quickly changing needs of customers worldwide.
To develop new generations of leek hybrids in different slots with improvements in yield, processing and disease resistances. All opening new perspectives for customers. The agreement is in line with the Root & Bulb programs from Hazera.
With the new varieties added to the existing leek portfolio, Hazera will focus on an extensive range of markets like Spain, Germany, UK, France, Poland, Scandinavia and Benelux. Customers used to buying the varieties of Syngenta are able to find the full variety range at Hazera starting July 1. Additionally the names of varieties will stay the same, so customers are able to continue with their preferred varieties.
