Allen Van Deynze is a researcher in the Department of Plant Sciences, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California — Davis. Originally from Canada, he talks to us about how and why there’s a greater variety of cucurbits than ever on grocery store shelves, why there aren’t more Canadians like him working in the field, and why international conferences like Cucurbitaceae are so valuable.
