At the 30th Annual Independent Professional Seed Association Conference in Indian Wells, California, Alex Martin sat down with Katelyn Tabit, an undergraduate at Illinois College majoring in agribusiness with a minor in finance and the first Inaugural Tom Burrus IPSA scholar. Tabit also has an internship with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development in Jacksonville, Illinois. At her internship, Tabit helps to develop different aspects of rural communities — including affordable housing, business development grants and sewer and water loans. She’s ready to break into agriculture and start helping the people who are already encouraging her to succeed.
