There’s one thing that brings Chris Cornelius pride about the Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA) meetings. It’s a meeting created for the members, by the members to create a collaborative space for independents.
The IPSA annual conference committee is comprised of three facets — members, associate members and affiliate members who all come together with one common goal: to make the meeting valuable to every attendee.
Cornelius, now president of IPSA, says this allows the committee to come up with sessions that develop takeaways for members.
“One of the speakers said, ‘Seriously folks, you can go home and do this tomorrow’,” she says. “That’s the best thing about IPSA. It’s boots on the ground, common sense stuff that can make you go ‘Oh my gosh, why didn’t I think of that?’”
As for the future of her new reign as IPSA president, Cornelius says there are a few things on her mind.
“We talked about an EPA ruling that they’re entertaining,” she says. “We have to be on top of that to make sure that the Corn Belt is being taken care of.”
On a smaller scale, she says building a library of mid-management webinars or management training would be an interesting project, as well as a project in demand from IPSA members.
Nevertheless, the future of IPSA will be interesting for the 2022-2023 year with Cornelius at the reigns.
