Syngenta Group Reports 23% Growth in 2021

Syngenta Group announced a sales increase of $5.2 billion across all units in their full year 2021 performance report.

The report shares data from all business units, including Syngenta AG, Syngenta Group China, ADAMA Ltd., Sinofert Holdings, Winall Hi-tech Seed and Yangnong Chemical, according to the press release.

The company says the growth this past year was, “fueled by demand for products and services that help farmers increase yields,” stated the report.

Full year group sales increased from $23 billion to $28.2 billion, marking a 23% increase from 2020. EBITDA soared from $4 billion to $4.6 billion, with a 14% increase, shared the press release.

Fourth quarter sales increased 17% from 6.2% to 7.2%. EBITDA had a 4% increase.

Biological products sales increased by 27% and, “synergy-driven sales increased by more than 60% to more than $0.7 billion, with a profit contribution of $0.3 billion,” according to the report.

Syngenta Group China Sales

Syngenta Group China, consisting of the company’s seeds, crop protection, crop nutrition, MAP and digital activities in China, saw the most growth, shared the press release.

“Syngenta Group China delivered strong growth across all segments with total sales of $7.4 billion in 2021. MAP revenues more than doubled to $1.8 billion and expanded to 492 centers (167 new) across China (average MAP center sales were up 43% year over year), equipping farmers with solutions that reduce greenhouse gases,” said the report.

Syngenta Crop Protection Sales

Syngenta Crop Protection saw a sales increase of 19% from $11.4 billion to $13.5 billion. Quarter four brought in $3.5, increasing 17% from $3 billion, shared the data from the press release.

New technology played a role in the growth of sales.

The initial registration for PLINAZOLIN¬® technology insecticide was completed. This technology provides a new option for growers against pests, stated the report. VAYANTIS¬®, a seed treatment fungicide, and VESTORIA™, a product designed to aid smallholder rice farmers in controlling damage from brown planthopper, were also successfully launched in 2021 according to the press release.

ADAMA Sales

ADAMA sales, “grew by 24% in 2021, with continued robust growth in all regions, resulting in full-year sales of $5.8 billion,” stated the report. Q4 grew from $1.3 billion to $1.5 billion, increasing 21%.

ADAMA launched VIGNEXEL¨, a plant extract biostimulant utilized to treat abiotic stress in vines and saw great success, according to the data.

Syngenta Seeds Sales

Syngenta Seeds grew 24% from $3.3 billion to $4.1 billion, more than tripling sales from 2020. In Q4, sales numbers went from $1.1 billion to $1.3 billion, showing a 23% increase, stated the data provided in the report.
