CSTA Announces Appointment of Interim Executive Director

salas

The Canadian Seed Trade Association (CSTA) board of directors has appointed Tyler McCann as interim executive director after it was recently announced that Dave Carey will depart later this month.

McCann is a senior associate with T. Bjornson and Associates (B&A), an Ottawa-based consulting firm that works exclusively in the agriculture and food space. He has a strong background in government relations, policy, strategy, international trade and association management. He served as the interim executive director for the Grain Growers of Canada and has consulted on strategy, policy, and international trade for clients across Canada in a variety of agriculture sectors.

Before his work in consulting, McCann worked for the federal government, including almost 10 years working for the minister of agriculture and agri-food. He is a familiar face to the CSTA, having supported several projects, including serving as the author of the CSTA’s Market Facilitation Report. McCann lives in Bristol, Quebec, where he and his wife operate a beef farm.

“CSTA is pleased to welcome Tyler McCann as interim executive director. By quickly filling the role, we are ensuring a smooth leadership transition for CSTA’s staff, board and members, and we look forward to continued progress on the issues that are important to our industry,” said Georges Chaussé, CSTA president.
