Seed Meets Technology Focuses on Innovation

The sixth edition of Seed Meets Technology shines a spotlight on the development of a Vision for the Future for Crop Protection 2030

At the end of September, the international seed world will convene in Seed Valley to discover the latest developments in the field of seeds. Seeds Meets Technology will also be held during this event; a meeting point in week 39. Seed Meets Technology offers a platform to businesses that are active in the seed industry. Over 55 participants from the Netherlands and the rest of the world will present their latest products and services, from seed processing machines to laboratory suppliers. They will be pulling out all the stops to organise an innovative, seed-oriented and informative event.

The event, which has once again grown in terms of participant numbers, will be held this year from Tuesday, 24 September to Thursday, 26 September 2019. In addition to a trade fair with interactive stands, a programme of lectures on a diversity of subjects such as developments in crop protection, microplastics, hydroponics and LED lighting will be organised.

Symposium: Vision for the Future of Crop Protection 2030
This year, collaboration was once again sought with Plantum in order to put together an outstanding programme. On Thursday, 26 September a symposium will be held on the Vision for the Future of Crop Protection 2030. The Ministry of Agriculture will speak about what we can expect in the future and the practical repercussions of this on the seed industry. A speaker from Bejo Seeds will discuss the influence of the vision for the future with regard to plant breeding, and Incotec will give a similar lecture, but with a focus on seed technology. In conclusion, Artemis will focus on the possibilities offered by ecological alternatives with regard to seeds, the problems associated with this and why it is difficult to find new solutions.

Other symposiums taking place during the event will examine developments in hydroponics and sensors & automation in plant phenotyping.

Participant lectures
In addition to symposiums that are more general and informative in nature, a dozen lectures will also be given by various stand holders. These will cover such subjects as pollen (Amphasys), LED lighting (Valoya), sensors (Pedak meettechniek) and IT (Mprise Agriware).

The programme presented indoors at the trade fair will be supplemented with the presentation of new varieties of dozens of crops in the fields outside. Takii Europe, Gautier Semences, Wing Seed and Sakata will all have demo fields that can be visited by all persons attending the event. In addition to this, hydroponics systems and hydroponically-grown crops will also be presented. To put it briefly: you will find everything in the field of seeds in one and the same place right here!
