Eighteen national organizations representing agriculture and science communities recently joined together in signing a statement in support of the International Statement on Agricultural Applications of Precision Biotechnology (“the International Statement”).
“We commend the governments that initiated and supported the statement in taking this positive step toward improved international coordination,” stated the groups. “This is crucial to the ability of breeders to utilize new and innovative methods, to increasing choice for farmers and to maintaining trade in agricultural products.”

Signed by 13 countries to date, including the U.S., the International Statement reiterates a global commitment to the fair, science-based treatment of agricultural innovation like gene editing, around the world.
