Solinftec Expands Robotic Weed Control Partnerships

Solinftec has established partnerships with three additional American cooperatives for its AI-based robotic herbicide sprayer, according to a release. Co-Alliance, Carroll FS and Premier Ag finalized the acquisition of additional Solix units for post testing. The cooperatives have all trialed the robotic sprayer solution on their crops. These partnerships expand Solinftec’s United States presence.

“The three cooperatives are at the forefront of agricultural technology in the United States, and by adopting Solix, they realized the potential for changing the way they price services provided to American producers,” said Leonardo Carvalho, chief global strategy officer for Solinftec.

According to the release, approximately 20 robots were used in the U.S. corn belt during the 2023 growing season, proving the sprayer solution is effective at reducing herbicide use on crops by over 95% through targeted application.

“In the traditional model, American cooperatives purchase agrochemicals directly from companies in the agricultural pesticides industry and offer spraying services along with the product that will be managed on the field,” continued Carvalho.

“Through these partnerships we have consolidated this month, we demonstrate our ability to serve a wide range of businesses democratically, enabling quick decision-making, delivering a significant reduction in agrochemicals, and providing sustainability to our customers’ businesses,” added Guilherme Guiné, chief of operations for Solinftec in North America. “Additionally, we offer a new way of managing the American corn belt.”

WHIN (Wabash Heartland Innovation Network) is also now partnered with Solinftec and will use the technology during the upcoming harvest with their members.

“We were able to clearly see the benefits that Solinftec’s expertise can offer to American agriculture,” said Chase Sellnow, general manager at Carroll Service Company. “By adopting this robotic technology, we observed the potential for a coming change in how we conduct our business.”
