Syngenta announced Michael Cottingham as its new Senior Communications Manager for Syngenta North America US Crop Protection, according to a release.
Cottingham will work closely with the Crop Protection and Corporate Communications team in his new role. He will handle media relations and issues management efforts.
“Syngenta produces industry-leading products and technologies that are shaping the future of agriculture,” said Cottingham. “I am proud to join such an innovative team and look forward to collaborating with partners across America to help farmers meet increasing consumer demand for healthy and sustainable crop production.”
Cottingham, from North Carolina, began his career in local news media and then expanded into strategic planning, leadership, government relations, media management and more.
Prior to joining the Syngenta team, he was the chief marketing officer for United Way of Greater Greensboro. While there, his collaborative effort secured a $10 million grant which is the largest in the organization’s history. Cottingham was also a communications director at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
For his education, Cottingham earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mars Hill University.
