Registration Open for CSGA Annual Meeting

The Canadian Seed Growers’ Association will be holding its 112th annual general meeting at the Elkhorn Resort and Conference Centre, at Clear Lake, Man., July 6-8, 2016. The resort is located in beautiful Riding Mountain National Park, and registration is open now.

The theme for the 2016 meeting is “Invigorate”, where CSGA members will refresh, revitalize, stimulate, rejuvenate and strengthen their outlook on the Canadian seed industry and their purpose in Canadian agriculture. A national park is an unusual location for a CSGA annual meeting, and the atmosphere will be very different from past meetings, as the host committee is planning a family-oriented “week at the lake.”

Located approximately three hours northwest of Winnipeg, Riding Mountain National Park is an island of wilderness surrounded by a sea of farmland, boasting 3,000 square kilometres of rugged nature just waiting to be explored. Riding Mountain is unique in that it’s one of only five national parks that has a resort townsite.

Lots is planned for the three-day event. CSGA has been working on a strategic plan for the Canadian seed industry, the results of which will be unveiled on Wednesday morning with an “Invigorating” discussion, including key stakeholders of the seed industry value chain.

CSGA is also partnering with SeCan this year as they celebrate their 40th anniversary. The traditional meet-and-greet family barbecue has been “refreshed” with the help of the good folks at SeCan, and will involve dinner, dancing and kids’ entertainment in one of the oldest halls in Manitoba.
